To Bandh or not to Bandh

Doesn't it feel good when you hear about a bandh in the evening of a day somewhere in between a week? And what's good about it is that it's usually declared well before two days of it's scheduled execution. People make plans, such big plans which they found were very difficult to do in two consecutive holidays. People fill the fuel tanks of their vehicles to the maximum, and funny enough, plan to go out on the day of the bandh. People also, and most importantly, thank the guy who was mainly responsible for the bandh call, and god forbid, if he has enough support, he is deified for a day.

Remember, all that happens when the bandh is certain.

Ship shape: a new concept for greener, cleaner oil tankers | In-depth | The Engineer

Big change in a household name...

I was really surprised when I came to know about the parting of ways by the Honda and the Hero group. It started out as a humble merger of the Hero and the Honda group around 25 years back, producing bikes which were otherwise phenomenal in changing the face of two wheeler market in India. It was THE company, Hero Honda, which dared to stand in Bajaj's way in two wheeler competition. It has produced best selling bikes - CD 100 and Splendor. All was good till Thursday 16th December 2010. Another big change in Indian automobile history after scrapping of Bajaj scooter and Maruti 800.

More on Day - 1

I wonder if any guy has taken a rejection hard by the HR guys of campus recruitments more than a rejection from a girlfriend. Not that I had any girlfriend (and I don't intend to have one either), but it's really hard to take a reality bite when there are people around you getting selected into the company, where you couldn't make it. It's funny though, I've seen people like me who said they were "hell bent" on pursuing graduation after undergrad, and they got into one of the five companies that came to my college campus for recruitments. Not that it's any of my business to judge their choice, but it sure was the reason that made me get into the competition, and after two days or so, it made me more seriously involved in it, and finally making me forget that my real aim was to either pursue an M Tech or an MS course.

Birth of a blog on Day - 1

I don't know what prompted me to start a blog about me while sipping my favorite sugar-less coffee, but I thought "hey it's not a bad idea". I still think I was destined to create one, and here I am, writing my first post in my first blog, when I'm in the final semester of the final year of my undergrad. Perfect timing.
