She's not my online friend. I know her!!

I was chatting with my childhood friend Garima who used to be in a hostel. One day, as the chat went on, I realized the replies did not sound like it came from her (yeah it happens, you have an online chat with a person you know very well, you'll know how they respond as well).

I threw a blunt question : You're not Garima. are you?

Pat came the reply : I am!!

Ok, either I was really sure about my theory about "know people and you will know their replying style" stuff, or Garima was really a great impersonator. I stuck to my theory and challenged the person on the other side....

Me : Oh really? How come??

Garima : I'm Garima too..

Me: I don't believe you!!

Garima : (Bewildered) Are baba, I am Garima, you have to believe me!!

Me: How's that possible??...

Garima: Can't there be two Garima's in the whole world!?!? I'm her roomie!

Yes, that ended my stubbornness.

On the other hand, I felt really nice talking to another Garima. You don't get to be online friends with your friend's room mate, particularly the one having the same name! Besides, she likes what I like the most : PC stuff, so there was so much to talk about. Trust me, I'm the nerd, and she just doesn't look like one.

Now comes a question which probably makes a human behave like programmed robots, who have to meet only the persons he (or it) knows in the society, and lose the very basic trait of a living thing to "be open and meet new people". In person, sure, he can. But online? You cannot be sure if it's really a guy of the same age talking with you. You can't be sure if it's really a guy of your age. Heck you won't even know if it's a guy, unless he posts his pictures. I was really following the "add people whom I know" rule to my Facebook account, and that made my friend's list to only 105.

Now as time progressed, so were our chats. It was just 5 days when we were talking like long lost friends. Yeah that phrase was like the most used one blah blah, but that's what has happened there. She finally told me her name's Garima Tandon, and my friend's name's Garima Joshi. Yeah, I turned into a believer. It happened when both of them pinged me at the same time in GTalk. Cool!!

Remember the rule about adding people in Facebook that I was talking about? I added Garima Tandon after just a week of our meeting online. And I did not break the rule, I know Garima Tandon. She's one of my best buddies.
